Re: Upgrade to Fibre 250 Halo 1: 2 questions

Mine is a SmartHub2.

From your check, you can get G.Fast, so that will be what they are using (and oddly call fibre).

Re: Upgrade to Fibre 250 Halo 1: 2 questions

Thanks all for the further helpful replies. I guess it makes sense to upgrade to Fibre 250, and hopefully benefit from faster speeds. It saves £2 a month - maybe that will offset the cost of any landline calls that would then be 20p/min having been unlimited free.

Re: Upgrade to Fibre 250 Halo 1: 2 questions

Openreach turned up as arranged. Impressively efficient. Replaced the face plate with the G.fast one, told me to wait a week for the router to settle down, warned that it would probably reboot a few times as it did so.
No apparent problems. Desktop on ethernet is getting 16ms ping 245.17Mbps d/l 51.64 u/l according to the BT test just now. I've yet to test another system on Wifi. And maybe ethernet via Powerline adaptors.

Re: Upgrade to Fibre 250 Halo 1: 2 questions

fwiw, a wifi system is getting similar speeds - 272.2 and 47.6 - the Openreach engineer thought Wifi would be slower, so any testing should be done via ethernet.
