Android mobile preference to BT FON instead of Home HUb

Go to solution

I recently joined BT FON and entered the world of smart phone users.

I have a android smart phone and have the BT FON app installed.

When I am in range of my own Home Hub my phone tends to connect to BT FON first - which is limited to 512kbps.

How do I stop this happening and not having to manually go in to select Home Hub each time?

I know one section of the Q&A section says to go in and 'forget' the BT FON connection but would that not mean that it would never auto connect at BT FON hot spots when I am out and about????? I obviously want to be able to utilise BT FON wifi spots away from home.

Thanks

There is a setting in the apps menu under connection settings. Tick the box which says Prioritise your w-fi networks.

This problem has bugged me for years. I can't find this setting on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 but I've just installed a free app called Wiman from Google Play Store and this allows me to set preferences and it seems to work

There is an option in the BT WiFi app ...

"Automatically connect me to my home hub when in range"

Though since getting my HH6 the phone does have a tendency to sometimes connect to FON and stick to it until I manually change it.

Yes, so does mine and it is very irritating to have to keep changing it back!

Never happened before I got the HH6.....

Anyone found a definitive cure?

Not a definitive answer, it's an Android problem.

If your phone is in standby, keep location services on.

This will speed up the connection to the hub wifi.

At first it connects to btfon, however.

If starting up from off, then make sure that you enable location services, as well as wifi, of course.

Eventually it will connect to the hub.

On the Android app, open it up then go to the three dots at the top right, click on it an scroll down to settings . Scroll down to "Automatically connect to my homehub when in range", tick the box.

There is no option.
5 Options:
Play a sound etc.
Vibrate when connected etc.
Update log in
Auto log in
About the app, licence stuff
