I was off contract but all features of my broadband deal were working up until I went back onto a new 18 month contract (now Superfibre Plus). For the first month it did not show BT virus protect and the McAfee program said that I had to buy a new subscription or reactivate. If I clicked on reactivate, a web browser opened giving me a login screen of a set of firstname.lastname@example.org and asked for a password.
On contacting technical support, they have tried to take control of my PC but the remote access software is not working.
My contract now shows virus protect so I downloaded and installed a new programme. However, when I start the programme, it again says that my account needs to be reactivated.
