I hope this is the right board to post this to.
BT Web Protect is stopping me getting access to a Website I need to access. My physio has sent me a link to a video with some information.
The link is in an email that will go to a YouTube video. I get a message “Site can’t provide a secure connection. Is-tracking-link-api-prod-appspot.com uses an unsupported protocol."
He said that he has sent the email to hundreds of people and I am the only one who cannot access it.
it took me a long time to work out that it was Web Protect that is stopping this but every device I tried in our house (IPAD, Android Phone, Windows PC, Kindle Fire) all had the same problem. I can access the site from several other secure networks using my phone but then it's blocked again when I try to access it on my home BT network.
I switched off Web Protect and the site is now accessible on all devices.
I have Norton 360 installed so I am wondering two things.
1. Do I need Web Protect?
2. If I do how can I get it to accept the website I need to access?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Only you can decide if you need BTWeb Protect. It works at a network level so that it "protects" any device that connects to the Internet through your BT hub.
Have a look at this link to give you an idea of how it works and can be managed.
Personally I would turn it off but as I say it has to be your choice.
I have exactly the same problem. However, I can't find how to turn off BT Virus web protect? How did you do it?
BT Webprotect is in your MyBT under My Products > Broadband > Manage Broadband
