BT WiFi Google Safe Search

As BT failed to install my broadband and I have no idea when it will be connected I have had to use BTWiFi and BTWiFi with Fon which are extremely unreliable but when I do get connected I notice that when using Google search engine that Google SafeSearch is activated by default and cannot be turned off, why not?!

Anyone else noticed this?

Re: BT WiFi Google Safe Search

I believe the BTWifi (BTOpenezone/BTFon) public wifi network forces Safe Search on to block any unwanted/indecent search results.

This is a feature offered to ISPs by Google and other providers.

Re: BT WiFi Google Safe Search

Fair enough but the customer should have the right to turn it off!

Re: BT WiFi Google Safe Search

BT WiFi is a public service and has to be controlled following recent legislation just the same as a conventional broadband service has parental controls activated as default on them

Re: BT WiFi Google Safe Search

@Venger

It's only forced on BT's public Wifi network (ie BTWifi, BTOpenzone, BTFon), as this is a public service then I believe it's understandable for BT to apply more protection over it.

It's not forced on any BT residential or business broadband service.

Re: BT WiFi Google Safe Search

You didn't address my point that BT should make it possible for the customer to opt out of it!
