I have had an open order with BT since March (moved into a newbuild) and I still have not got a proper internet connection and it wont be expected until November due to issues with lines and other things.
At the moment my household is using BT WiFi with FON for an internet connection.
We use it for downloading apps, online gaming (works well surprisingly) and catch up services like BBC iPlayer.
Problem. There is a fair usage policy of 10,000 minutes (166 hours) per month before connections are reset every 30 minutes and big downloads are not allowed (im guessing +5GB in one go is classified as big)
But because my family doesn't have a proper internet connection yet (which is OpenReach's fault and not our own) can we be exempt from the cap so that internet can be used freely?
I have a feeling its only a matter of time before issues occur.
It will be an automated cap and I doubt it will or even could be removed. It is to help protect the person whose Homehub you are connecting to and to be fair to other users who may want to use the service.
