BT WiFi works on Hotspots but have to use hard wire at home?

My 4 year old Acer Aspire netbook says its connected to our BTHomehub4 via wifi but won't display web pages have to connect to the internet via the ethernet cable, yet it connects to BTWiFi hotspots ? is it a firewall issue? my 7" tablet connects to the hub wifi with no problems, can anyone help?

Its most likely that the wireless drivers need updating. Try visiting the Acer support site.

Also check that the network settings are set to automatic,

 

You may be able to overcome this issue by changing the wireless encryption on the home hub, to WPA Only.

 

BT Wifi is unencrypted, so that is why it works.

 

If you have a software firewall, try disabling it, just in cas its blocking the BT Home hub IP subnet.
