BTWiFi + FON

I cannot maintain a connection to BTWiFi + FON via my mobile (Samsung A3with a BT SIM) - it seems to connect briefly then drop out.

I can maintain a full WiFi connection with my BT hub or at a Premium Hotspot or other WiFi hubs (with password).

I can maintain a connection to BTWiFi + FON via my laptop from the same physical location.

Any ideas, please?

Are you using the BT Wifi app?

Also trying to connect through a WiFi Analyser app - same result.

Correction - BT WiFi app only shows premium hotspots, so attempting connection thoough Settings - Connections - Wi-Fi

This can happen if you have multiple saved wireless settings for BT Wifi/FON.

Go into the wifi settings, and delete all instances of BT Wifi/FON, Openzone. Once you have done that, then just scan for the one you want to connect to, and use that.

Thanks for reply.

Deleted lots of (redundant ) saved WiFi sites and left about 6 regular sites.

Problem still occurs.

I see "Connecting to...", "Connected to...", "Not Connected" all in about 3 secs.

Then its probably an issue with the hotspot itself, the owner`s home hub needs restarting.

You should really delete all of the saved ones, as some Android phones get confused with multiple SSIDs, even though the BSSIDs are different.

Hi again - thanks for sticking with this so far.

The Hub I am trying to connect to via FON is my Home Hub.

I've powered it down then powered up again.

Still the same issue - cannot connect via my mobile 'phone (all saved sites are now deleted) but can connect from laptop.

Also had failures to connect to FON with other BT hub.

does the mobile 'see' the BTWIFI/FON network just won't connect?

Yes.

Either through Settings/Connections/WiFi (seen as BTWifi-with-FON)

OR via WiFi Analyser app (seen as BTWifi-with-FON plus ISP details which are the same as the Home Hub details except for the last number).

No other BT Hubsare within range.
