Cannot open Excel documents

I have tried to open an Excel document in the cloud and I get an error message saying the file is corrupt. The file opens OK on my PC. Word documnets open OK. I am using Office 2016.

Has anyone else found this probelm and is there a solution?

If you open the excel file on your PC.

1./ Make a minor change and undo that change.

Click on the "save" icon.

Then file>save.

2./ Then open up BT Cloud to resync/backup (or upload, if in the web application).

What happens then, when you try to open the Cloud version??

Some ideas:-

1./ Are you opening the cloud document on a pc, or a tablet, or mobile device?

Is excel installed on that device?

2./ Sometimes there are problems with Office 2016 when importing data to an existing excel file, as some of the numerical data can set as text (or other) formats.

You have to check each column, viewing all content very carefully to check that the format is set correctly.

3./ Make sure that the file is saved as .xlsx format. Sometimes it can save as pdf format by default.

4./ Just very remote possibility:-There is a way of accessing previous versions in Cloud, if you have any. See if any previous versions will open.

Re: Cannot open Excel documents

Hi
It looks like it may be connected to my version of Office. I am running Office 2016 from 365.
