My BT Hub has just added a EEwifi SSID to my WiFi. HELP!

I was checking my WiFi neighbourhood and found a very strong EEwifi signal swamping my BT SSID 2.4G broadcast.

I tried changing my wifi channel to an unused frequency but the EE signal changed too.

Has BT switched this EE SSID on on my hub as part of the EE mobile broadband network?

Any frequency I select for my 2.4G band is covered by the EE one.

Does anyone know if this is part of the BT EE merger.

Re: My BT Hub has just added a EEwifi SSID to my WiFi. HELP!

BT broadband customers get free access to the 5.5 million + hotspots around the country, residentials hubs form part of that network, now the BT hotspots are being renamed to EE, which is why your hub will show a new SSID

Re: My BT Hub has just added a EEwifi SSID to my WiFi. HELP!

Hi Richie,

I had BT hotspots turned off on my account and never had a BTwifi SSID broadcast from my hub.

Have EE switched it back on?

Looking at my wifi analyser the EEwifi signal tracks my BT SSID no matter what I try.

Have you had a replacement hub since then or done a factory reset?

Re: My BT Hub has just added a EEwifi SSID to my WiFi. HELP!

Ritchie's,

No upgrades, I still have my original BT Hub 5 (I've held on to this as I want 2.4G and 5G frequencies from my hub to suit legacy equipment).

I've not done any reset, I use the admin settings to maintain and change my preferences as I have a very complicated Wifi neighbourhood with Sky, BT, Virgin and Vodaphone all competing for space.

As far as I know I've even disabled remote access to BT until I grant permission.

Thanks for replies

Fred..

Looks like the update to change BTWIFI to EEWIFI may we'll have reactivated it

you need to go to MYBT and opt out again   or maybe opt in then opt out
