Re: Opt out of BT Public Wifi
Hi @And1990
If you've tried the suggested steps on How to opt out of BT Wi-fi help page but keep seeing errors, then I'd suggest contacting the team directly so they can help further.

Re: Opt out of BT Public Wifi
Thanks for the message. So after 90 minutes chat with BT I am no further forward! The ‘tech expert’ disabled my BT ID, made me set up a new one, had me going backwards and forwards between the app and website getting me to do all sorts of stuff. Total waste of time!

Re: Opt out of BT Public Wifi
The disabling of the public wireless hotspot from the BT or EE hub, requires that a parameter change is send to the hub, from the management system.
This does not happen right away, and can take a few weeks, depending on when the hub is polled. I believe that can fail if there is a data mismatch between the serial number of the hub, as held on the management system, and the actual physical serial number.
With customers moving from BT to EE, and possibly getting a new hub, I would be very surprised if any hotspot gets disabled.
In addition, any factory reset of the hub will re-enable the hotspot.

Re: Opt out of BT Public Wifi
The person that I chatted with didn’t attempt to do this themselves just repeatedly tried to get me to do it. Repeatedly pointing me to paths via website or app that weren’t there! Guess I’ll just have to go down the complaints route (again).

Re: Opt out of BT Public Wifi
The old forum moderators did have the ability to contact the team who manage the hub updates, and ask them to initiate a manual poll of a specific hub, and change the parameters.
That is no longer the case, and no matter what the helpdesk do, which they think may help, its not likely to initiate the change.
If you look at the home hub event logs, you can see when the hub is polled.
CWMP is BT’s remote management.
Of course if you do not have BT Digital Voice, you can use your own router, and that will not transmit the public Wi-Fi.

Re: Opt out of BT Public Wifi
I tried using the services of a BT Guide but after 90 minutes it was clear they didn't know what they were doing. All they did was seriously mess up my online account. It's apparent that the website link to opt out hasn't worked for some time. How can I get my issue resolved please?
