Parental Controls and blocking VPN

Go to solution

Hi - Recently had my parental controls fixed by BT which was great but it looks like my child may be using a VPN to get around this.  I do not understand how this all works but the app downloaded was "X-VPN Unlimited VPN Proxy" on apple.  Would this mean they can now get around the parental controls and if so how can I block this.  Using the BT access control on the Hub they only have access to internet during the day but does this also mean that if they log on normally during their allowed time frame and then use this app they can then continue to use the internet after the hub should have kicked them off?

Any advice from anyone who understands this stuff better than me much appreciated.

Welcome to this user forum.

Try adding the web address of the VPN to the blocked sites list.

Look it up on Google.

Thanks, I'll add to the list of blocked sites and see what happens.

this does not work as quite often the proxy / vpn sites are using secure http (https) and you get the following error - Url should fit the pattern of: www.example.com or http://example.com

My kids have also discovered proxies and VPN's -  there needs to be an extra catagory on the web filter catagories ! My kids use this one which I cannot find a way to block ? https://kproxy.com/

One for BT R&D  I guess
