Parental Controls

Hello BT

After many recent conectivity issues with my FTTP which have been resolved I went to add the parental controls to my account to protect my mentally disabled son who uses the internet/WWW as his once source of enjoyment but he needs protecting a little bit. I have used the parental controls before and had them working on a previous account.

In this case I get the following message: BT Parental Controls will start working within two hours.
You won’t need to do anything else.

I have had the message staing 15 minutes for changes to take affect but they never have so far and it always reverts to the message above about the two hour wait. Obvioulsy I have waited days so I am not jumping the gun here.

For clarity:

  • I use custom filters
  • These include some standard options such as pornography, obscene and taseless etc
  • The Ultrafast Hub6 has been rebooted since chnages were made to the Parental Controls, more than once
  • There are no devices using any Open DNS servers, so no google 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 
  • The filters are not working, having tried them a lot and seen things I don't want to see I know that this is the case
  • Switching on and off does not work (Parental Controls). That has been done many times

The previous issues with FTTP were complex and left us without access for quite some time, many work arounds were used including opening "dummy" accounts to get ADSL working while the FTTP was not. We had a fantastic guy working on our behalf at BT and he has only recently finished with us so I didn't want to bother him again after hearing from me every day for months! So if someone can pass this to the parental controls team that would be very much appreciated, but for crying out loud don't do what one of your colleagues did and literally switch off the line and leave me without anything at all.

@crazylife I checked your fault and it looks like just this morning the issue has been fixed - could you try managing your parental control settings again and let me know if you're still having any problems?
