Anyone know when the fix will be available to turn off FON in the Home Hub 5.
Not at all happy that I've been opted out since day one and it's broadcasting still.

I think the OP is referring to being able to turn it off manually in the HH5
The answer to that it :- Not anytime soon.

If if it's like the HH4, then it can take up to 28 days for the web-side opt out to register on the router, which I agree is not acceptable.

So BT quietly turn on FON and it takes another 28 days from connecting a HH5 when I opted out over a year ago?
It's probably been around 3 weeks I've had the HH5 but it beggers belief that FON is switched on when my profile clearly states I've opted out. Why does this surprise me? ![]()

it is a new device it still needs turning off however any firmware update will normally turn it on again
I can't see any good reason why it takes up to 28 days to disable FON on the router though.

Exactly, it should be off as a default and you opt in if you want it.

But that would be the sensible thing. As most people would probably not opt in, that's human nature, BT would not be able to claim that they supply millions of free hotspots and that would spoil one of their selling points.

Sense doesn't come into it really. It's just underhanded tactics by BT as usual.
