Have you tried using 'Assist me...' in the Network Prefs. It's a clever little thing.

Make sure you have "Smart Set Up" turned off. See link how to do that.
Some Apple devices seem to have a problem with the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz frequencies having the same SSid (name)
Try giving the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies different SSids. Just add a 5 to the end of the 5Ghz SSid so you know which is which. Check the 5 GHz Sync with 2.4 GHz: is set to NO.
Once you have done that "forget" the connection on your devices and then restart your devices and log onto both SSids. Your devices that can use both frequencies should then automatically switch to the strongest signal.

To turn off "Smart Wireless" and get the best out of selecting a fixed channel you should download a Wifi Analyser app for you smartphone.
It will show you the wireless channels and which one your Homehub is on. You want to find the channel with the least congestion, ie. least number of users. Once you have that you need to change your homehub onto that channel. If you don't see any clear channel try channel 13 for the 2.4Ghz frequency. The 5Ghz frequency is not usually as congested and because it's range is limited it is usually not such a problem.
See link how to change channel on homehub

Same issue appears to be discussed here

If you move your Macbook right next to the hub it should flip on to 5Ghz and you can see if you still have a problem, or nip into a Costa Coffee for free Wifi an see if the problem persists there. However it may be worth doing a factory reset of the Hub. This should set the passwords back to default and 'clear it’s mind’ although if other devices are connecting OK it does suggest a Mac problem.

Have the exact same issue, only when using HH5.
Seen it using a MacBook Pro and also when using an AppleTV. Used the laptop in many different offices/etc & never had any issue. It almost seems that a decent amount of traffic being sent causes an issue, seems to cut off when downloading at high speed or streaming to device.

Has the browser been quit? The HH stores a temporary cookie, why I don’t know. Worth a try if it hasn’t.
