Are we losing Discovery+ altogether on 26th March?

Go to solution

Over the last few weeks all the talk has been about how on 26th March TNT Sports will be moving from the Discovery+ app to the new HBO Max app.

BT/EE have portrayed this all will be the same only that TNT will be on HBO Max app.

However, I came across the below text on the EE TV forum, an official announcement which among other things appears to suggest that we are totally losing Discovery + on 26th March and that if we want to continue with it then we basically have to sign up with and pay Discovery + ourselves.

Am I understanding this correctly?  If so this is very disappointing.  I recently renewed my contract on 3rd March for another 2 years and if I had known this I would not have bothered.  There was nothing in my new contract about this, if anything Discovery + was listed in the 'what you are getting' section of the contract with instructions on how to activate it etc.

Hopefully I am wrong about this but could BT/EE staff who watch this forum please confirm if we are/are not losing Discovery + on 26th March?

What this means for you

No changes to your EE bill:

  • the move to HBO Max won’t change the cost of your EE plan
  • there’s nothing you need to pay, add, or upgrade with EE - the switch is included in your plan

You’ll no longer be able to watch discovery+ Entertainment through EE

  • from 26 March 2026, your EE plan will no longer include access to discovery+ Entertainment live and on-demand content via the discovery+ app
  • if you want to keep watching those shows, you can sign up directly with discovery+

You can still watch all your TNT Sports live streaming channels

You’ll still get every TNT Sports channel that’s included in your plan today. The only difference is the app you use to watch them.

Watching discovery + Entertainment content

discovery+ Entertainment isn’t included in your EE plan from 26 March 2026. If you’d like to keep watching channels like Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and more entertainment content, you’ll need to:

  • Sign up directly with discovery+ from 26 March 2026.
  • Create a new account, as your EE-linked login won’t work anymore.
  • Pay discovery+ directly, not EE.

Any profiles, watchlists or viewing history linked to your EE access will not transfer - it’s a fresh start.

If already subscribed before March 26th, I think you can still use Discovery+ app for documentaries etc.Screenshot_7-3-2026_92237_www.bt.com.jpg

@derryviewer you haven't specified which announcement you have quoted an extract from.

Some posts and details refer to plans provided currently by EE as mobile extras , as an addon to EE broadband ,  within a current (pre 26 March2026) EETV package or as an addon to an EET v packages.

There are at least 3 different announcements on EE website - all tailored to particular plans.

Thanks for clarifying all.  So it looks like it applies to those who have EE TV on their EE mobile phone plan.

My info came from this post on the EE TV forum but I now realise the question was actually re mobile plans.

https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/TV/TNT-sports-on-discovery/td-p/1605521

But it also appears that tv customers who sign up after 26th March will not get it which does not bode well for the long term future of Discovery+ on BT/EE.  I guess for anyone who renewed or signed up before 26th March and currently has D+ then this is the last time we get it.

Can any BT/EE staff confirm if an existing customer renews after 26th March or a brand new customer signs up after 26th March then they won't get Discovery Plus.

Is that the case?

Hey there @derryviewer.

If you are an existing discovery+ Entertainment & TNT Sports customer who subscribed to discovery+ before 26 March 2026, you will retain access to discovery+ Entertainment via EE at no extra cost.

If you have joined EE after 26 March 2026, you’ll need to sign up directly with discovery+.

You will pay discovery+ directly, and the charge will not appear on your BT/ EE bill.

To sign up directly with discovery+, please go to: https://play.discoveryplus.com/
