All BBC1 regions are now in HD in the IP mode and Freeview is due to have HD in all areas by the end of this week - but some local studios are still SD.

The IP mode excludes several channels the wife and I enjoy watching. Also, we would not be able to watch the BBC regional news which is not yet transmitted in HD.
I shall stick with what I have.
I am grateful to all who have taken the time to advise me. At least I now know what to do if the channel list becomes more comprehensive.
