BTTV 'box only' package and migrating to EE
Hi,
currently have a 'box only' BTTV package, and seems if I want to renew my BB package I need to migrate to EE (order keeps failing if I try to order BT).
Can I keep my box only package if I move to EE (online order seems to want me to add a subscription which I don't want)

Re: BTTV 'box only' package and migrating to EE
What is a box only package ? are you charged for a BTTV box without anything other than Freeview channels, if so what do you pay per month ?
If you are on some sort if legacy deal , moving provider or recontracting usually requires taking current portfolio products (or dropping legacy ones ) , however if it’s just Freeview you are interested in , then paying to rent a ‘box’ when they can be purchased cheaply seems an odd thing to do .

Re: BTTV 'box only' package and migrating to EE
HI, we don't pay anything extra to rent the box. We have access to rent or buy films on EETV (formerly BTTV). One of the perks of being an early adopter.
Only option may be to try and convince BT to let me renew without switching over to EE

Re: BTTV 'box only' package and migrating to EE
@ixdes It certainly ought to be possible to stay with BT broadband. However, I don’t know where you would stand with your ‘ box only’ situation. CEO Allison Kirkby is said to be opposed to the decision to sideline the BT brand, which has been described as a vanity project of the outgoing head of the consumer division Marc Allera. If you phone and insist that you want to stay with BT, you might be able to keep your box too.

BT should not force you to EE now that the CEO has backtracked on making EE the consumer side & BT the business side. That was announced maybe 2 weeks ago.

Re: BTTV 'box only' package and migrating to EE
@ixdes If you become an EE customer then your products will be the products that EE offer eg EE broadband and the EETV products that are offered by them.
So legacy BT EETV products that you may have with BT Broadband if there is not a direct equivalent on EE Broadband would not be available. You would need to take an existing EE Broadband EETV product assuming you wish to continue with EETV.
other observations .. if you have had your TV Box before December 2019 it is likely to be owned by you and not required to be returned when/if you cease EETV . If you are an early adopter and have not had a replacement TV box since December 2019 this should apply to you. So your Freeview viewing and recording and the available box apps (other than EETV) would still function.
If you cease EETV your previous EETV purchases should still be available to view on the EETV apps but you would not be able to buy or rent more from the EETV player or apps. Also I believe the EETV player app on the EETV box would not be able to be used if you ceased EETV but the EETV app is available on many other devices which you can connect to your TV. See
