Here's a strange issue - I have the most up to date ETTV box and it's plugged into a 1080p Panasonic TV
Watching World Cup footage from iPlayer I am getting shimmering / judder effect on bright colours like reds / oranges and pinks. This is mostly noticeable in certain close up shots but only when there is motion - camera pans for example are especially revealing.
It's as if the brighter colours are lagging behind the rest of the image slightly creating a judder / shimmer.
Could this be some kind of HDR downsampling?
Watching the same footage on iplayer on a PC I am not getting the same effect. I've also not noticed it on any other footage on iplayer on the TV either so quite a perplexing one.
EDIT - I just tried playing the full matches on iPlayer and they are playing fine whereas the Highlights are where the shimmering is happening - must be something to do with how those particular videos are encoded but strangely the same videos on the PC don't have the shimmering
Only observations -
By highlights I presume it is the 5 to 10 minute short highlights on iPlayer.
Those highlights for the most part seem to be available as up to UHD quality whereas the on demand completed matches seem to be up to HD. (The live games on iPlayer arre up to UHD).
@maathoru one further option to view the highlights on your EETV Box Pro/Edge should be the YouTube app ... search (in Youtube) for BBC Football and you should see the highlights streams available there (warning there are spoilers).
