Thank you @DarrenDev for the information.
It’s just a shame that customers didn’t receive a prior warning and found out via the on-screen message.
Discovey+ web pages on supported devices now updated to say
EE TV (formerly BT TV) boxes
This includes EE TV Box Pro and EE TV Box Mini.
Note: Starting 22 September, YouView Humax C4/C5 boxes won't be supported. To keep streaming discovery+, switch to a supported device or, for more options, contact EE TV.
perhaps it it would be a good idea if a consistent and accurate name be adopted for the impacted boxes.
i presume C4/C5 should relate to the
DRT 2100 G4 You view TV Box or
DB-T 2200 Z4 You view TV Box and DTR 4000 G5 YouView Set Top Box.
Think we can assume only the pro box (for now) will remain unscathed.
The same way Sky and Virgin supported their PVR'S.
It could also be argued that EE regard the Apple box as the future and not the almost obsolete youview
Fortunately that original long development/deployment delay probably means that many discovery+ users with those boxes will already have previously sought out alternative devices to watch it on.
2026 is shaping up to be a year of changes with WBD stated intention to launch Max in the Uk early in the year and whatever happens with the Joint Venture between WBD and BT.
I've been through the posts,i have the 2100 box,i received the message,it says upgrade to a EETV box.but i think i also noticed that to receive a new box,you have to have a current contract,i'm out of contract. That i guess means that i will not get a replavement box.The other thing that concerns me is this. Will my youview box cease to work completely or does it mean that only discovery+ will stop working
