@NigelB72 Indeed. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Paramount-Skydance didn't have WBD in their sites even at that stage. Capturing the rights to the bulk of the Champions League (on a global scale) gave PSKY sufficient leverage over its streaming competitors - making Paramount+ a much more enticing prospect.
To be honest I find this absolutely unacceptable that bt didn’t/couldn’t have been bothered to email subscribers to inform them of this and give more info what this means for members. Ridiculous
Had an email from BT about it on 14th Feb:
TNT Sports is moving. Action required
We wanted to let you know that all the content you watch on TNT Sports will be moving from the discovery+ app to the new HBO Max app when it launches in the UK on 26 March.
From this date, you can watch TNT Sports through:
The TV guide as usual
The HBO Max app on your Smart TV
The HBO Max app on another device while on the go.
You can download the HBO Max app on your Smart TV or devices from all app stores.
What next?
If you want to watch TNT Sports via the HBO Max app on your EE TV box, we need to upgrade you to a brand-new box that supports the HBO Max app, at no extra charge.
Once you receive your new box, you can then log in with your existing discovery+ details.
Don’t worry, this change will not impact your current pricing.
Give us a call on 0330 123 4150 to start the process of your box replacement.
(it would have been useful for it not to say I need a new box, as I don't)
Wow. Thank you for that. I can’t believe that I didn’t get this but i just called them and they will be sending out an upgraded box to me but all thanks to you🙏👍 by the way may i ask how come you don’t need a new box? Is your old box already compatible?
I have the EE TV Box Pro, which I think has been the default box they supply for quite a while now, although I guess there will be plenty of people still with the old BT boxes - mine died some time back, hence having the EE box.
Regarding the Sports product offering - my BT contract is ending soon & I've had some prices through.
I thought I'd seen some mention somewhere that TNT will have to be reducing their prices due to the rights they have lost in recent years.
I mainly signed up to watch the European rugby which they have lost and the Champions League, which will be lost in just over a year's time.
Their prices are due to go up this month and next March with the offers they have emailed me - it's a bit early for me to phone to see what the best price they can give me is, but is there any word that the 2 year contracts are being offered any cheaper, especially given the second year price increase, when they won't be showing Champions League matches?
Extremely unlikely
They still have premier league and FA cup matches
When Sky lost all the European football their prices didn't fall.
And with paramount technicality taking over tnt as part of their buyout of WBD they haven’t lost anything as it will all eventually be united again either under TNT or another name of paramount choosing

Will the new HBO Max app run on an Android 7 device such as my old Samsung S2 tablet? Or failing that will the service still be available using a web browser?
Been mentioned on EE forum that will work on all devices that discovery+ currently does
