NOW TV with boost but only stereo sound

Hi All

I have had a BT pro box since they were first released and despite a rocky start, on the whole it's pretty good now.

I have a Sonos sound bar and rear speakers and it reports 5.1 surround whenever it is available on terrestrial and other streaming services like Netflix, Prime etc so the setup is OK.

We have the NOW TV entertainment pack with boost and i see the picture is at 2160P so assume the boost is actually working except that programs that are shown to be HD 5.1 only operate in dolby 2.0 stereo audio.

There are no audio settings to change on the NOW app so I can only think it is an issue with the NOW app on the BT Pro box. It's pretty annoying when you are paying extra for the boost!

I was hoping there may be an update for the NOW app but I see the options for mnually updating have gone now so assume it is automatic.

If anyone has any experience of this or has managed to fix it any guidance would be much appreciated.

Looking at the specs for the BT Pro Box (very willing to be proven wrong) it would appear that it is only capable of outputting stereo, though it supports (and should output) "immersive audio" if it's been encoded with Dolby Atmos.  That probably means you'll need to find a setting for your Sonos to creatively mimic multi-channel sound.

*decent surround sound mimicking devices can be head-scratchingly good!!!

Dolby Atmos and UHD is only available through the Now ultra boost. 

I currently pay £4 monthly 

Not available to those that access Now through a third party

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. The only issue is that 5.1 terrestrial, Netflix, Prime etc all output through the soundbar in 5.1 with no problem. It's only NOW TV that is an issue. Unfortunately my TV is quite old and doesn't have the NOW app so I can't try it on the TV but I've got a firestick somewhere so maybe I'll see if that works. At least then I'll know its either the BT box or the BT box NOW app!
