Can you help me with choosing a new cable to use from the hub to the wall socket please? It is a minefield. Just when I think I have found one the reviews are dire. I want a good one so I can be sure it is BT compatible and in case we have any more problems

Cable to what "wall socket", mains, master socket, something else?

A cat5 ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors at each end (such as the one below) is all you need, remember to check the required length of the cable.

This example Rhinocable is more than adequate

Is that a single BT431A socket or does it have the filtered faceplate with a separate RJ11 connection for the broadband?

The cable that @Les-Gibson posted won't be suitable in either case.

Hi @jeanjeanie2 we should be able to get a new cable sorted for you - sounds as if you have a MK2 socket similar to this one - is that right? It's probably got a black cable with grey ends running from there  to the DSL (Broadband) socket on the back of the hub.

@jeanjeanie2

@rbz5416 is wrong.

Your TV box connects to one of the LAN sockets on your hub, not directly to your line
