Problem with Freeview Box

I've got a problem with my Freeview box where when I turn it on via the remote, it can take up to 15 seconds before I get a picture then several seconds before I get the sound. Then changing channels it can take just as long before getting a picture. It can also lock up when pressing fast forward or rewind.

I've switched it off and on at the back of the box and it appears to work fine but after a few days the problem gradually returns.

I can't remember if BT initially charged me for the box but some years ago they sent me a new one due to an upgrade. Does BT repair these or send me a new one if faulty or do I just buy a new one? Looking on Argos / Amazon there does seem many to choose from.

If you have an active BT TV subscription and the box is faulty, they'll replace it
