Hi - I received a Sagemcom BT TV Box Pro a couple of months ago, to replace the older Ultra HD You View box that stopped working after a software up-date.
The new bok worked perfectly well, for about 2 weeks, before it shut down and then re-started, without any user input, doing a full factory re-set, which wiped all my recordings and app passwords!
I decided this was an annoying blip, but I re-set everything, and carried on using it. After again working for a couple of weeks, the box re-set itself, wiping everything with a factory re-set.
it has just done this again, for the 4th time, and is close to being thrown through the window!?!
Any suggestions or ideas to resolve this will be gratefully accepted.
I'm not an expert with TV boxes but as no one else has responded, I will say that it sounds like it is good old fashioned broken to me. I'd have a chat with customer services about them sending you another replacement.
Up-date...
After a long on-line chat with a BT / EE "help person", and having remotely re-set the router, and the TV box (twice, the second re-set having deleted all recordings and app settings, without warning!!), the box seemed OK until today.
It has now re-set itself again, over-night, and wiped all recordings and app settings - now for the fourth time!
I do not consider this product to be fit for purpose, and will now be seeking a replacement and possible refund.
Hi @andyjw given these are loan boxes I would certainly ask for a replacement. Personally I would have asked after the second unexplained reset so I think you have been far more reasonable than many others would have been.
just one question is the location of the box in a position where it might get overly hot ?
I would call customer service and get a replacement - a one off incident is OK but other than that not so much - I would think something has gone wrong with the hard drive
i now have an engineer visit scheduled to investigate further?!? Will wait and see what they can achieve.
