Smart/Energy Saver mode no longer working

Go to solution

Only noticed this yesterday but it may well have been like this for some time (since the last update?).

I usually use Smart mode to keep the box in deep sleep except in the evening (1am through to 6pm) but yesterday I turned it on at about 5pm and if fired up straightaway so obviously thought it was in Always Ready mode.   Note that no recording were in progress nor due to start nor had there been any recording made for a couple of days.  Nor do I have any mobile devices connected.

As a test I put it into Energy Saver mode then rebooted it then turned it off left if for an hour then tried turning it on again.  Once more it fired up as if it is was in Always Ready mode.

The only other thing I can think of is that there is an orphan timer somewhere in the system perpetually waiting for the signal to start.  If so, I suspect the Not Going Out series which got shunted around the schedule due to Wibbledon.

It is a DTRT4000 running 3.9.26 /32.163.0

Loathe to do even a minimal reset as that would mean losing my large Watch List being partway through full rewatches of several older programmes.  Do I just wait several weeks for the NGO timer to drop off the schedule ?  Always been a hassle with Youview that you cannot see and manage timers for which there are no recordings scheduled within the current window.

Pardon me for not remembering I had the same problem a couple of years ago and it was caused by me temporarily setting a timer via my phone then unpairing the phone. Just got to try repairing my phone and seeing what's what ...

Well it needed me to delete all extant timers then reboot before it started going into Energy Saver mode again. Fortunately only a handful of timers to set up again as these days a lot of what I watch using the Youview box is via the BBC iPlayer and Discovery+ apps (commercial channels recorded on another PVR).
