Hi all, looking for some help with sound dripping out on some tv channels please.
My set up comprises an LG G4 OLED Tv, a Philips Fidelio B97 7.1.2 sound bar, and a Bt TV Pro Box. The Pro box is connected to the TV via a straightforward hdmi, the TV is connected to the soundbar via eArc.
When watching some channels, including recorded stuff, I get approx 1-2 seconds of sound dropping out every fews minutes. It doesn't seem to happen with internet channels or via Apps.
I'm wondering whether a new higher quality hdmi lead from TV to TV Box would help? Or a better Ariel lead from the wall to the TV box would help? (I don't have the Ariel connected to the TV as I don't watch terrestrial channels on the TV's own tuner).
Many thanks,
Andy.
A couple of questions:-
When the sound drops out on a recording, if you go back and play that bit again, does the sound drop out in exactly the same place - I.e. the dropout is on the recording - or is it variable?
If it’s variable, try disconnecting the soundbar for a while - do the dropouts still occur when you are using only the TV speakers?
While nothing is impossible, for an aerial lead to drop audio without also dropping video is practically unheard of.
And while it’s a bit more likely with HDMI, you should not forget that there are two HDMI cables in your chain, the second one feeding the soundbar, and at least as likely to be the culprit.
For eARC, that second cable needs to be a high speed HDMI cable with Ethernet. Is it?
Thanks. In terms of the drop out on the recorded programmes, I'm not sure I'll have to check.
I watched football on Amazon Prime via the App on the TV tonight and no drop out out whatsoever. That makes me think it's the hdmi lead from the TV pro box to the TV as that wasn't part of tonight's viewing set up.
Maybe I should replace both hdmi cables with hdmi 2.1?
