TV guide constantly popping up without being called for

Go to solution

This evening I’ve encountered a problem I cannot resolve & which is making viewing any TV impossible so I need a swift solution!

When watching any channel via the BT/EE box - be it a terrestrial FTV broadcast or a subscription service -  the BT/EE TV guide pops up every 10-20 seconds without the button on the remote being pressed!!!

Sometimes it will flash up & disappear a few moments later but frequently it persists until the guide button is pressed to dismiss it.

So far I have tried re-starting the box (twice) and the TV (Samsung - once) with no effect.

This is preventing us from watching anything so, although tonight is a good night to not watch tv since there’s such utter tripe on, this needs a resolution!!

Can anyone offer any insights or ideas please???

Your issue sounds pretty weird, but then I have a dancing line of text that ought to be static.

I’m suggesting we all hold off until BT tell us things are fixed, and then see if we still have our issues.

It may be an issue where the guide button on the remote is faulty, I would take the batteries out and of the issue stops that was the issue and you can contact BT for a replacement.  If the issue continues I would suggest a software update or if needed a factory reset of the box.  I can't see the issue persisting after that

Thanks for your input… in fact the solution was simply to disconnect the power to the box & re-start (rather than simply re-start off the screen or front button).

So far (touch wood!!) it hasn’t recurred! Such a bizarre issue with no obvious cause… other than, perhaps, small hands fiddling, which is highly likely as we now have a different problem with the TV shutting off without warning… seemingly because a schedule has been set (without my knowledge)!!

I do, so, enjoy having the grandkids here… NOT!!!
