Adding BTMail to Outlook (Office 365)

Go to solution

Anyone out there with experience of successfully adding BTMail to the very latest version of O365 Outlook?

When I first added the account it curiously set up the Outbound server with an O2 address!  Very odd on a brand new MacBook.  Having corrected these I have resolved the Outbound configuration, but so far I've been unable to get Incoming mail working successfully.

Currently have the following settings:

Username:   email@btinternet.com

Password:  actual password

Incoming server:  mail.btinternet.com

Port:  993

Use SSL to Connect:  Check

Always use secure password:  Check

Whichever combo I use, it does not seem to resolve the issue.  This is currently generating an error:

OK IMAP4 PROXY server ready

BTMail seems very unpredictable!

For Windows, you are specifically instructed not to check "Logon using secure password".

Is it the same for a mac? "Use SSL" should be sufficient.

I have unchecked this.  No difference.

I am using O365 for Mac, not Windows.

Solved it.  Outlook is only allowing a POP account for BTMail to be added.  Port 993 has solved it.

Will have to ditch it.  POP of no use whatsoever.

Yes, saw that you are using a mac. The nearest I've come to a mac is an ipad and ipod. Not too easy to setup!

But the setup for office 365 for Windows is fairly easy, and the same rules should follow for mac, regarding SSL.....

The error notification you are seeing appears to be a notification, not an error, as such.

Your username entry is correct, is it??

Perhaps a mac user will post. Have you searched the forums?

You should be able to add an IMAP account. When setting up your email account do not use the wizard. Select "other" when you get to the part asking for the email company. Once you have selected "other" it should then give you the option to set it up manually. When you get that option use the following settings.

Yep solved all that.  Thanks.

All error messages now resolved and on the face of it everything is functioning normally.  Only problem is all outbound mail now disappears into the ether without ever being delivered.
