Also just got this problem this afternoon, but sorted now thanks to Keith. Many thanks, shame BT couldn't communicate this information to ITS customers direct.

Should the outgoing port also be changed to 995?

At least it ensures that all passwords are now sent encrypted, which was not the case when people were using other ports on the Yahoo servers.

Did I stop paying attention at some point as, for the life of me, I don't remember being told about the need for this change. And I also looked at the BT Help website this morning to see what settings are required and BT says 25/110. I was looking because Yahoo told me that I needed to change the settings for Rocketmail POP access and I wondered if the BT emails settings also needed to change.

-KB is right again before I saw his post  to the outgoing port  I went to my email programme and on outgoing clicked-SSL this automatically brought on PORT -465- Thanks again KB.

Thanks Keith, you're an absolute star.

It's about time BT started paying the likes of yourself and the other knowledgeable people who post on here offering the genuine support that the Indian call centres just do not provide.

I am pleased I was able to help. BT should have made this information available in advance of the changeover, as it would have saved a lot of hassle.

 

I bet the helpdesk are busy Smiley Wink

Thanks Keith. It's a pity BT did not tell every one about this. There will no doubt be very many customers unaware of this and how to resolve it. BT should have emailed all of their customers about this. No doubt the Customer Services will be getting snowed under with customers complaining that their email no longer works. They could have saved a lot of grief with one simple email!
