BT Email after Migration to EE - Current Status?

Go to solution

Hi

We are currently on BT Broadband (with complete wifi and digital voice landline).

We are being encouraged to migrate to EE broadband (as it seems this is inevitable), which will give us a new EE hub and blades but apparently with the same service and landline number.

This all looks OK in principle but I’m still unsure about the email strategy.

Looking at this earlier thread (https://community.bt.com/t5/Email/What-happens-to-my-BT-Email-and-BT-Cloud-if-I-move-from-BT-to/td-p...) it says that BT email should be unaffected - but that’s from some time ago.

Can anyone confirm that this is still the case, and will remain so?  My simplistic reading of this is that I will get a “my EE” login for all the new stuff but the “my BT” app and web page will remain, but the only “product” left there will be email service, and I’ll continue to be able to manage our IDs in perpetuity.  Am I right?  Needless to say, I don’t want to be forced to change my ID…

Thanks!

It is still the case and yes you are right you continue to access it as you do now.

Judging by the tales of woe on this forum about botched BT to EE migrations, with people suffering loss of service for days and sometimes weeks, I would refuse all offers to convert to EE.
It's true that it is BT's intention eventually to transfer all residential BT broadband customers to EE, but this is not yet compulsory and it's best, in my view, to resist the migration until BT finally sorts out its migration process.

Thanks Chris!  Awaiting the full details (and next conversation) with them…
