BT Mail now asking when loging from the WEB onto email to setup a BTID - but does not know the password
How do you setup a BT ID
how do you know if you already have a BT ID - will you still be asked !!!!
See this link for setting up a BTID. If you can already log into MyBT you will have set up a BTID.
Link to Log onto MyBT
I'm still confused onthe BT ID thing..
I have someone who has a BT ID and watches BT sports - so they must have a BT ID - which is an email account not a BT on
They can use BT sports etc
BUT they cannot seem to log into the BT wireless from other peoples BT routers
perhaps I will post a different question on the correct forum about that
At the moment, BT is in an odd transition to their new "BTID" system. For existing customers, there is still a mixture of BTID and email addresses. The two IDs don't have to be the same, but BT recommends that they are. If you're still on the old Yahoo mail, then the email password may be different to the BTID password.
If your BTID doesn't work, try your email address and password, and vice-versa.
Your BTID does not need to be a BT email address but it apparently it does now need to be an email address of some sort. If you are new to BT.
If you have not already got a primary BT email address, your BTID, provided it is an email address, will let you log onto BTWifi, which is what you are referring to as "wireless from other peoples BT routers"
doesnt seem to be working 😞 😞
My neighbour is on BT and he wants to use hes tablet when hes on holiday.
I mentioned that he could use BTwifi using his BTID and password that he uses for BTSport
As an example - I went around with my laptop and connected to his BTwifi ,
that opened a webpage to then loginto btwifi
i cliicked on that he was a BT broadband customer
and used his email and his password
and it would not let me in nor with clicking on wifi
As he has never used a BT email and from when he first purchased BT broadband has always used his main personal email account (not BT)
any suggestions welcome
As I have already pointed out. He must set up his BTID as an email address. It does not need to be a BT email address but it does need to be an email address.
If he already has a BTID that is not an email address he will need to log onto MyBT and go into his profile and change his BTID to an email address.
He can use his "personal" email address as his BTID if he wants, he just needs to change it in his MyBT profile.
If he does not do that he will not be able to use BTWifi hotspots when away from home.
its is an email address and it works for BTSport - and all setup as an ID
so not sure why its not working
just getting a few people asking , I train on IT to the elderly computer users and i would say 50% use BT
so would be good to know ..
I will have another look
Check the status of BTWifi here
Can he log into MyBT and check his profile and the log on details. This is his BTID.
Must admit I haven't tried to use BT wifi lately so don't know if it still works or not with my circumstances. But if I understand you correctly, I can no longer login with my Primary email address and password unless I have a BTID. My MYBT user name is a text string, not an email address so that can't be used to login.
