BT has lost or deleted our email address.

Our email service with BT suddenly stopped working three days ago. It is a .co.uk address which has been registered with BT for many years and it is part of our broadband package. When we try to logon we receive a " Host not found " message - when we try to send to our address from a different system we receive " Address not found ". We have tried a number of different computers and smart phones but receive the same result. Clearly the exchange has lost or terminated our address. We have spent hours on the phone to BT help but they seem confused as it is not a BT address. Please, can anybody help.

Re: BT has lost or deleted our email address.

Can you explain what you mean about it being registered with BT. Don't post the full address but can you give the part after @.

Re: BT has lost or deleted our email address.

BT have no problems if they can give you BT email address - presumably something like @bt.com.  But you have to register and receive permission to use a co.uk email address. We did register and receive permission many years ago - and it worked fine until last friday when it was terminated without warning.

Re: BT has lost or deleted our email address.

You need to speak to your domain provider, this has nothing to do with BT.

Re: BT has lost or deleted our email address.

If the email account has been terminated that will have nothing to do with BT and you will need to contact the email provider.

If it is that you can not send or receive using the BT servers it may just be that you need to check the settings that you are using and authenticate the non BT email address with a BT email address.

If you are using an email client in the out going server instead ticking the box "use same as incoming" you will need to tick the box my server requires authentication and then go into the settings and enter a BT email address that the server can authenticate against.

The BT settings are here

Hi, welcome to the forums.

For your .co.uk email service, are you referring to a domain registered with BT (e.g. business service) ?

(note BTinternet email addresses end with btinternet.com, not bt.com

Check :-

and enter your domain (without http://www) to see the relevant dates.
