I use Outlook as my email client and althouigh it connects to the BT server for incoming mail, it will not connect for outgoing mail. The settings are all as they should be, for authentication, etc and I have checked the box to use the same settings for incoming mail. I set up eMClient on my laptop and that does excatly the same thing - connects to BT for incoming mail but can't connect for outgoing mail.
Any ideas?

Are you either a BT broadband customer or paying for Premium Mail? If neither, your account will have been downgraded to Basic mail which is only accessible via webmail.
I'm neither - had no idea that BT had changed things. Thanks for the info.
