Cannot get my CCTV camera to send an email

Cannot get my CCTV camera to send an email

Does anyone know of any restrictions for third-party software accessing a BT Internet email account? I am aware some email service providers need another/2nd password for app access

My issue is with a CCTV camera using CamHipro Software. I am unable to get the alert to email function operating. I am assuming that the app software uses my email to send the alert and therefore needs to log into my account

Any guidance on this specific IssueWith regard to BT email would be greatly appreciated

Yes, the camera will need to log in to your account.

Re: Cannot get my CCTV camera to send an email

Thank you so much for your reply which is much appreciated. I’ve actually tried to lock the camera in to my email account along the lines you have indicated but I still keep getting cannot send email message. I suspect there may be some issue Of which I’m not aware. I’ve already been onto BT all confirmed there’s nothing wrong with my email account. Perhaps the next step would be to contact the camera manufacturer.

Re: Cannot get my CCTV camera to send an email

Can you confirm that you have you tried entering the following in to the Email Settings for the camera.

SMTP Server: mail@btinternet.com

Server Port: 465

Safe Link: SSL

Authentication: On

Username: Your btinternet email address ie Joe.Blogs@btinternet.com

Password: Your email password

Send to: The email address that you want the notification to be sent to ie Joe.Blogs@btinternet.com

Sender: Your BT internet email address ie Joe.Blogs@btinternet.com

Subject: What ever you want to name it.

Message: What ever you want the message to contain.

Test: Once you have entered all the above information click Test and check your email for a test message.

Before setting up the camera email notification it may be worth entering the email address that you are using above into your "Safe Senders" list in your BTMail account. To do that Log onto your BTMail account then click on your username at the top right and then click on settings. Go to "Mail" at the right hand side then scroll down to "Safe Senders" and add your email address then click save.
