As a comparison I have used the following settings when I set up Outlook
Your Name
Email address: Full btinternet email address
Account type: IMAP
Incoming server: mail.btinternet.com
Outgoing server: mail.btinternet.com
Logon information:
User name: prefix only of email address (others have said they need the full email address)
Password: Email password
Tick remember password
Do not tick Require password auth (SPA)
Click Button More settings
Tick box my out going server requires authentication
Tick box use same as incoming
Do not tick log onto incoming server
Advanced Button
Incoming server 993 Tick requires SSL
Outgoing server 465 Use following type encryption SSL
So, having found a workaround (using no encryption, which isn't ideal) i am now in the predicament of Outlook automatically switching back to the other settings (which still don't work).
Has anyone else had any idea as to why SSL/TLS does not work? It tests fine when i press the check settings button, but just doesn't send the e-mail and we get the same old 0x800CCC0F message saying the server refused the connection.
Would it be worth the turn all the other computers off option and resetting the password.
