How are you accessing your email, webmail or mail client?
BT most certainly does allow SSL connections
Thanks for your prompt reply. I honestly do not not know which I am using. I have printed settings from BT help and about to try that.
Have you changed any settings or did the problem just start happening of its own accord? Are you using IMAP or POP3 for incoming mail?
The settings should be port 993 for IMAP, 995 for POP3 and 465 for SMTP.
Nothing was changed it just started happening. I have checked and outgoing mail (SMPT) was set at 25, I have changed this to 465 and will see what happens. It is outgoing which does'n't work, incoming OK.
Port 25 is an insecure port and thus won't work if SSL is also ticked, conversely 465 is secure and won't work unless SSL is ticked.
It looks as if it is working now, messages in outbox are now in my sent folder. How on earth things got changed is a mistery. Thanks for your help,
