Hi there.
In the left column 'folders', I've 2 indications that there are 'unread' emails. The 'display pane' does not show any unread emails. I've found that using 'conversation view'; the 2 emails appear, and 'unread' clears. Close 'conversation view' and the 2 emails disappear, the unread doesn't reappear. I don't usually use conversation view: I will now.
Any observations welcome.

A single click toggles conversation view on or off.
When it is on it places the emails that form a conversation into one group.
In the list of your emails it then shows a box prior to the "From" with the number of emails that are in that conversation/group.
It is not a box showing that they are unread.
When you turn the conversation view off, the box disappears because the emails are no longer grouped together.

Thanks @gg30340.
I wondered what the little numbered boxes were. I feel that 'conversation view' is my way forward. Less heavy on the thinking parts.
