I've just got a new phone (android - p30 pro) and added my BT email account to the email app (pre installed one, not Gmail). I used the guidance on BT website I.E. Set as IMAP etc. And it connected fine. However, it looks like every single email I've received is still in my inbox as unread - so far I've got as far back as Oct 2019!!
Why is this happening and why is it also showing the same when I log into my emails via Web page? I thought IMAP syncd the app and Web so that whatever changes you made in one, would also replicate in the other.

It does but if your old phone was configured as POP3 with leave a copy of the message on the server ticked, the mails would still be on the server despite deleting them on the phone.
