Deleting Emails in new system

Go to solution

Usual method with most emails is to read it then delete.

Used to do this with 1 click on 'delete' under old system which deleted that email and loaded the next one.

Under the new system you have to click 'more' then 'delete' or go back to folder then 'delete'

Doubles the effort for most emails !

What browser are you using.

Don't double click to open the email, just use a single click.

On Chrome there is a  "delete" button in the menu above the open email. Once deleted it then takes you to the next email in your list.

Make sure the following is ticked:- Go to the settings which you will find by clicking on your username at the right hand side. When in settings go to "Mail" then tick the box " View next mail after delete/move"

See help pages for some other information about the changes.

I'm afraid you didn't read my query fully.

What you describe is the 'old' system.

BT have rolled my out to their so called new and improved system.

I think the browser is irrelevent.

Your query was fully read and answered correctly  by GG.

Delete is still a single click on the new system and the delete button is present on the grey bar which contains the compose and change view options.

If you delete an email - it does automatically go to the next one. If this is not happening - click the top right dropdown where your email address is - then settings - then mail - and 6th option down check that the option for View next mail after delete/move is ticked.

No. I did read and fully understood your post and I did answer it correctly. It is not the old system. It is the "new" BTMail that I gave the answer too.

Perhaps it is you that did not supply the correct information.  Are you on the BTMail system or on the BTYahoo email system because there is a difference. Also are you using a PC/Laptop or a mobile device.

As regards your comments about the browser being irrelevant did you read the link I posted which states which browsers are needed to work with the BTMail user interface, also known as the webpage.

Sorry but no.

I was moved onto the 'new' BT email system 2 days ago.

There is  no longer any 'delete' button in the grey bar.

Yes you can set still adjust the 'settings' to automatically go to the next email after deleting but that is not the problem

Can you answer the other questions that I mentioned in my post, ie which browser, what device you use which emai system are you on.

If you are not sure check the BT logo when you are in webmail. If it mentions Yahoo that is the system you are on.

I do not use the BTyahoo version, I am using a desktop, and the browser makes no difference

Re: Deleting Emails in new system

Do you mean the browser makes no difference because you have tried different ones or that you do not believe that the browser could make a difference and have not tried a different one.

BT State in the link I posted:-

Supported browsers

The new version of BT email is only compatible with the following browsers. If you're using an older browser, you'll need to update it:

  • Internet Explorer 11
  • Edge
  • Chrome 60+
  • Firefox 52+
  • Safari 10+

In any event can you say which browser and version you are using?

I have checked on Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera and Internet Explorer and the delete button is present in all of them.
