E-mail created in word

When I create a long message in word and then cut and paste it into an e-mail, whilst it does not show up in the e-mail on my screen, when the e-mail is sent it shows coding such as below in the body of the e-mail.

Why is this and how can I stop it happening?

Example of unwanted coding in e-mail

"Times New Roman";color:#333333;mso-fareast-language:EN-GB">

mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";color:#333333;mso-fareast-language:
EN-GB">

Re: E-mail created in word

You should try sending in plain text and not rich text. This will however lose any formatting that you have applied in Word.

It is apparently a known problem and BT are working on a fix.

See this thread from the moderators and in particular message 3

https://community.bt.com/t5/Email/Email-migrations-Update-from-BT/td-p/2062527

You might want to consider using an email client such as Thunderbird until the fix is applied. This will negate the need to use the BTMail web interface and it will allow you to paste your documents without any problems.

If you decide to do that the settings you may need if they are not automatically inserted are here.

Re: E-mail created in word

Thanks for the reply.

I used Thunderbird some years ago so I have downloaded it again.

Pity a vast organisation like BT can't get its e-mail working properly!!

Re: E-mail created in word

I have experienced the same problem. I have phoned BT and e-mailed and received a telephone reply to my e-mail. The answer from BT is that they can't help. The two people I spoke with knew nothing about the problem.  Their best idea was that perhaps I could find a way to work around the problem.

Tony

Maybe the people at BT who had not heard of the problem should look at SeanD the Community Managers responses at Email migrations - Update from BT - BT Community as he is well aware of the problems.

I am now using Thunderbird.
