Email Stopped on Samsung S7 Phone

Hi my email service on my phone has stopped working.

I have deleted my account and on trying to put it back on to the phone it checks the settings and the comes back with the reply that it "Couldn't verify account".

I have checked the settings for setting up an IMAP account on the manual entry button and everything tallies with the guide information on your help page.

When trying to sign in the phone comes back with Couldn't verify account

and

mail.btinternet.com isn't responding 

 

Do I wait until the system decides it is going to respond?

Hmm, just checked Outlook on my desktop computer and that is sending but not receiving mail.

What do I do, if anything?

Can any one help, please?

try using web mail and see if that will send and receive mail showing account is ok

Hi.

Unfortunately this is a very common occurance.

Have a look at webmail

https://www.bt.com/mail

and you will probably see a Yahoo image top left to indicate that you are on the BTYahoo system. This fault only applies to BTYahoo accounts at times. It is indicative of working for webmail, then for some reason it fails for apps/clients.

The usual thing to do (if webmail works) is nothing. No password changes, no settings changes or app/client delete - either account or app. The issue usually fixes itself after a few hours to a few days.

The thing to do is stop all devices from auto-checking for email, then every hour or so check one device only.

If the problem persists, then a password change can help. When changing password, wait at least 20 minutes before trying any app/client. Then do one at a time.

Hi imjolly and thank you.
Test mail using webmail sent to my Gmail account and reply received back.
Outlook on my desktop still not working.
I wonder could this be the BT server not responding to out side requests?

Hi Andy, thank you and yes I am on BTYahoo system.
I will try again tomorrow and see what happens then.

Andy, thank you.

Checked my Outlook this morning and it has now downloaded all of the missed emails.

Entered my details on to my Samsung phone and that also has started working.
