Email login blocked - unable to change password

I have a Talk21 email address as my prime email with BT, although shown as xxxx.bt@btinternet.com in system.

After being unable to downloads mail, I logged in and my account is PROTECTED with a button to reset password.  I have completed security and changed password several times - each time the new password works to log in, but account is still shown as PROTECTED with request to reset password?

How do I escape this loop?  I have tried different browsers and different computer with same result and cannot access mail?
