Several times this past week when I've tried to login to either of my bt email accounts this message appears:
"Please check you entered your username and password correctly and try again. If you need help remembering your username or password you can use the links below."
I know I have entered everything correctly and have even reset my passwords but this continues to frequently happen. At least once a day I get locked out of my email account because they say I've had too many incorrect attempts.
Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, do you know what the problem is and how do you solve it? BT Chat cannot help me.
I've been having a similar problem for nearly a week now. This is using BT (not Yahoo) webmail directly, not using a "client", and I reported it in answer to a question in someone else's thread here:-
This is the link:-
Today it's been less bad for me than when I last posted, but it still seems to take on average 2 or 3 goes before I successfully log in to my email, and that's despite me clearing my browsing history frequently. Sometimes IE11 works, sometimes Edge works, and sometimes Chrome works - there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.
I haven't seen any acknowledgement that there's a problem.
I have the same problem on my pc but not on my phone. BT says it must be my pc that is the problem. I don't understand, the message is coming from BT?
I have been having difficulty signing in to BT email or Btyahoo email using either of these methods:
On the latter method I get to my 3 email accounts - one is btyahoo and the other two are "btinternet proper". I have btyahoo as my favourite but when I click on the banner to take me to my favourite I get the same problems as on the first method.
Sometimes it works and it transfers me to my inbox, sometimes it doesn't and I get the message below. The problem is only on my PC Windows 10 1909 x64. Android and iPad are O.K. It really is annoying and only started in the approx last 2 weeks.
Hmmm...can’t reach this page
Make sure you’ve got the right web address: https://strongauth.secure.bt.com
Search for "https://strongauth.secure.bt.com" on Bing
Refresh the page

I spoke to BT. There are no staff available, it seems, to thoroughly investigate and BT will attempt to tell you it's a problem with your computer.
I usually use Edge browser but managed to connect on my PC via Chrome by using this method (but not every time).
1. Sign in AFTER waiting for the wheel to stop turning on the "sign-in" web address header.
2. If a page comes up saying Can't connect to Web Page then wait. You will see a wheel turning on the web page header every now and again as it seems to automatically refresh. With a bit of luck you will eventually connect on one of the refreshing attempts.
It's late Sunday evening 3rd May and I seem to have been getting normal access to my bt email on Edge browser today on my Windows 10 1909 x64 PC. One can only assume that the problem has now been fixed, whatever it was. Let's hope it stays fixed!
I have been having this problem for about 2 weeks. Most recently a few minutes ago (Sunday 3 23.00) The message I get is usually:
Please check you entered your username and password correctly and try again. If you need help remembering your username or password you can use the links below.
Or telling me I have had too many attempts to login and my account has been locked, but on the immediate second attempt it always logs in. Irritating, but having been subjected to a nasty spate of phishing emails recently, I was worried that someone was attempting to access my account remotely. I am quite relieved to see other people have been having this login issue. I am on MS Edge on Windows 10 using Internet Explorer. I might try going in through Chrome to see if it makes any difference.
Thanks for your help. We've blocked all 3rd party cookies and arranged for history to be deleted each day/ every time I log off the PC. This seemed to 'cure' the problem for around 10 days. However, over the past 3 days it has returned, as persistent as before. I've had enough and I'm switching to my gmail account.
