I’m asking on behalf of a friend who only uses the BT web mail portal.
The problem is all his emails sent from there have his defunct email@example.com as the reply email address instead of his firstname.lastname@example.org sending address.
I’ve checked the settings in the web mail portal and there is no option to set a different reply address so we can’t change it.
I’m wondering if this is a legacy setting, where BT previously provided this option and have since discontinued it?
Has anyone else had this problem?
Suggestions for a fix? (BTW abandoning BT web mail is regrettably not an option for my friend).

Is your friend on the BTYahoo system or the BTMail system. If you are not sure get him to log onto the account and check the BT logo. If it says Yahoo you are on the BTYahoo system.
To change it in the BTMail system log on and go to settings then Accounts you will see the BT Mail Account in the box on the right hand side. Click on Edit. You will see the reply to address. Change it to the correct address and click save.
You may need to use the "Basic" view to do the folowing.
If on BTYahoo go to the settings then options then Mail Accounts and you will see the reply to address. Change it then click save.
If using 'New' interface rather than basic view in BTYahoo mail, click on cogwheel in top right hand corner, settings, select accounts, choose account and then change 'reply to' address.

I hadnt realised there were more options after clicking on the email address in the accounts list and being able to edit it from there.
