HELP! Real muddle giving away an email address!

Can someone please help.  I have a current email address with Bt - have had for years and a couple of "sub" email addresses.  I have noticed for sometime for some strange reason the name that comes up on email coming direct from BT has the wrong name on it (my step mums?) .  I was changing some settings this morning I received an email from BT and yes again it had the wrong name on it.  I tried to change this by in my wisdom using the option to GiveAway my email address - thinking if I did this I could give it away to  myself and thus get the correct name on it.  But to activate this I am needing to create a BTID which I already have and I feel I am now in a real muddle and it seems there is no way back.  I feel now I would be better just to leave it as was - can anyone help me PLEASE because my email address now seems to be in limbo and I am not receiving or able to send any emails.

Thank you

Re: HELP! Real muddle giving away an email address!

actually I am able to receive but not send and I imagine I am not going to be able to send until I create an additonal BTID which I really don't want to do as I am worried this is going to affect my BTTV and SPORT as it is accessed through my BTID and I imagine my email address (being the one I have given away - to myself as it were) flip - what a mess! I really just want to reverse the giving away of the email address - can I do that?

Not sure what you have done but if you have gifted an address you can't recover it yourself. I will ask the mods to assist, they will post on the thread.

Hi @Fiona1912
Thanks for posting, I can completely understand your concern on this.
I can have it investigated and maybe even get the name corrected also.
I've sent you a private message asking for some more details.
Thanks
Stuart
