Re: How do I find my IMAP password?

Go to solution

@UlsterSurfer  You appear to be misunderstanding.

Your email password will be exactly the same regardless of how you access your mail, either via app or via web browser.

If you can access your mails via a browser without entering your password, your browser must have stored your password which you can retrieve by inspecting your saved password list in the browser.

If you cannot retrieve it that way you will need to change your password. This can only be achieved by using a browser and following the forgotten details route here

Basic mail is only applicable to customers that no longer have a BT Broadband account.

That is exactly my experience.

However, you didn't mention Cinderella.

If I change my password on the BT website (BT.com/email), then the clock has to strike midnight before I can effectively change any of my client eMail apps (eg Outlook for Android, Outlook for desktop) which makes it very confusing. If you use the new password with a client before midnight, the server will reject it.

Hmm, I've never encountered that. I'll try later when I have a bit more time.

No Cinderella effect here. Just changed password in webmail, opened MS Outlook 2010 immediately afterwards to be greeted with a wrong password form, entered new password and logged straight.

Also updated immediately on Android Blue Mail
