Many years ago my family switched from BT to Talk Talk but we retained our BT email addresses (@btinternet.com) and I have just found the email relating to the closure of email addresses. We have 3 email addresses that are still active that we use as primary email addresses. How do we keep those? Switching to BT is not an option due to the terms of our contract with Talk Talk.
I look forward to hearing from you.

As you are no longer with BT Broadband but still use the @btinternet.com email accounts you will need to do either of the following to keep your BT email accounts:
1) Get BT Broadband
You can do this by going to here: http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/bro
2) Move to BT Premium Mail
It will cost £1.60 per month by going to here: https://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerOrd
you just need to upgrade the primary email address to Premium Mail and all your subaccounts will automatically be moved. Up to 11 separate email addresses are covered. The primary email address is the first one you set up when you joined BT broadband.
You will need to take on of the above actions before September 16th 2013. For more information please go to http://bt.com/emailchanges
Hope that helps,

Many thanks. I have completed the £1.60 account set up. Will my other email addresses be automatically linked to that umbrella of emails? Is there any way of checking? The idea of the September date coming along and the other accounts vanishing fills me with dread.

No problem Bachu,
As long as you have upgraded your Master (Primary) BT email account to BT Premium mail then all the linked sub accounts should also be upgraded.
See below how to check if your sub accounts are linked to your Primary BT email account.
If you login to this website here: https://bt.edit.client.yahoo.com/accounts? with your Sub accounts email address and password.
Once your in you will see a "Accounts" under the Account Information section. Here you should then be able to see the current sub accounts email address and if it is linked to your Primary BT email address then it will also display the Primary BT email address.
See an example of the website below: https://bt.edit.client.yahoo.com/accounts?
