Import contacts via csv file

Go to solution

Try as I might I cannot see a way to import a contacts list via csv file.

I can see how to import from other email systems (I do not have any of those listed).

I had a good look at You Tube for an answer but very little on BT Yahoo mail?

Any help appreciated.

I don't know anything about BT Yahoo email so the following could be wrong.

Contacts are usually imported/exported in .vcf format, so presumably you would first need to convert the csv file to vcf format, Google "csv to vcf" to find an appropriate tool

Outlook might give you the option of importing a .CSV file. It can produce its contacts to a .CSV file.

Thanks Robbie .. strange you can export as CSV from BT Yahoo BUT you cannot import .

OK … long road for a shortcut so will have to import contacts into Gmail or Outlook and then to BT Yahoo.

Thanks but poor from BT point of view?

It is actually poor from Yahoo. The BTYahoo is just a Yahoo account with BT branding.

The new BTMail system, which you will eventually be migrated to at some point in the future allows you to import csv contacts without them being from the four suppliers that Yahoo have dictated.

Re: Import contacts via csv file

Many thanks GG … I like the system and have used it now with no real issues.

I just had a need to import some additional contacts and hit this buffer. I can now work around it.

I did you tube BT yahoo and found very little.

I use BT yahoo as part of my BT package so presume I am doing the right thing.

Is there a Beta version of the new BT Mail?

Did you click on the Outlook Import? It might be able to take in your existing .CSV file without resorting to Outlook itself.

You are doing the right thing with your email.

No there is no Beta version of the BTMail system.

BT have started moving all the BTYahoo accounts onto BT's own email system. At the moment they are slowly moving them across and waiting to see that all is well before moving others. When they are happy all is well no doubt they will increase the numbers and speed of the migration so at the moment it is just a case of waiting until yours is done.

No Robbie but a good point.

I normally export a list to see the fields (column headings) and then mess about in excel and get the columns and data correct and that works for me.

I was just surprised I could not import in NT Yahoo.

MANY THANKS for your help.. much appreciated.
