Just tell them, 'Stephen sent you' LOL You should also demand that if they don't fix it right now, you'll leave BT, and report them on FleeceBook, TwitFace, and Instant Custard if they don't deal with your issue by the end of the week. That'll scare them into action 🤣🤣🤣

Re: Links in emails not opening in new browser tabs

In my experience links did open in new tabs.  This is a recent change in the last week or two. I have pinned my email tab and hoped  default new tab would be able to be selected. I KNOW I can right click to force it to open in a new tab, but I keep forgetting if I've done it. One website refused to respond to the back button so I had to open a new tab and pin it again.

BT's help menu is moronically predictable selling new services. What I want is an email Help that doesn't go back to BT's Soapy Sam determined to sell Sport on TV.

I am on BT Basic (the Package not email) and my email has not changed.  I have an account for wife, daughter and MIL +my own and more to spare. 11 email addresses in total.

That is still the BT Standard email.

If you qualify get it, you will save a fortune.

You are not alone, it is yet another mishap it this "New and Improved" Web Mail.

I thought it it was me at first and checked to see if I had inadvertently changed any settings. There are no settings to actually change so I couldn't have been me. Checked on here and found out that BT had a problem with it.

Still not fixed as of 20/08/2022 at 13:14

It is bloody annoying as it is a reflex action to click on a link and it opens in a new tab.

Been doing that for more years than I care to remember and it is darned difficult to remember to right click all the time.

Strange thing is though it does not apply to all links, some still open in a new window, others close your email.

It is a total PITA

If the originator formulates the link to open in a new window is does it anyway, but unless they do, the program opens where it is.

It's nothing to do with the way the link is originally formulated. Links have ALWAYS punched open a new tab. The links that currently 'work', start with 'https://...', the links that currently don't work start with, 'https://...'

Years ago if you wanted to change your mobile phone provider it could only be done by changing your number so most stayed with their provider until Ofcom made it possible to keep your number when changing providers at no cost. Ofcom should do something similar with email addresses to prevent you being held over a barrel and pay for the privilege.

@acemark   Ofcom did, and BT have.

BT basic email is available if you switch providers, therefore keeping your address.
